Belt conveyer was built to carry out excavated soil from shield method construction. This article reports application of pipe conveyer for part of the section that is about 800m including Niikura parking. Designing the pipe conveyer presented the following challenges; no junction towers allowed, reducing soil falls and dust, building viewing windows at narrow sections, meandering layout in vertical and horizontal directions, and so on. The article explains solutions to meet the challenges, such as sealing up movable bearing parts for long distant viewing windows, utilization of VR for pre-construction assessment, maintenance of the belt conveyer and so on.
