The northern section of the Okinawa Expressway, which has been in service for 45 years, is located in a hot and humid subtropical area, and is located in a severely corrosive environment because sea breezes reach inland due to typhoons. This is a report of a case in which the IH method was applied to the removal of a coating film that had been thickened due to overpainting of a steel truss bridge (Okubi River Bridge) in this section.
