茨城県北東部にて、全長約1.2kmのガス導管新設の為のシールドトンネル築造を泥水式シールド工法にて行った。発進立坑と到達立坑の高低差が約30ｍ当り、発進から約950mまでは泥岩層の掘進、それ以降到達立坑までは、洪積砂層の掘進となり、その層境においてレキが点在する地盤であることが、事前ボーリング調査と追加ボーリング調査により判明しており、レキによる閉塞リスクや発進・到達掘進における出水リスク等の対策を講じ、安全・品質・工程を確保し施工を行ったものである。
