The Tatsuno Tunnel is a single-track railway tunnel of 218m in length between Tatsuno Station and Akamizu Station on the Hohi Main Line.
The Tatsuno Tunnel is located about 700 m from the Aso Ohashi area, where a large-scale slope collapse occurred during the Kumamoto earthquake in April 2016, and the structure of the Tatsuno Tunnel was severely damaged by the earthquake.
Therefore, the Kyushu Railway's Hohi Main Line Restoration Office has been working since 2017 to restore the disconnection section, including the Tatsuno Tunnel.
This report describes the restoration work of the Tatsuno tunnel, which was damaged by the earthquake.
