The waste landfill construction project in Yamanashi Prefecture was started in October 2014 and completed in November 2018 following the environmental impact assessment procedure in Yamanashi Prefecture. According to the Environmental Impact Assessment Report, biotopes such as ponds, wetlands, and water flows were designed at two locations in the project site (550 m2 on the left bank of Kanisawa River and 3,300 m2 above the dam on the Kanisawa River), and were constructed between June and August 2018. One year after the creation of the biotope, it was confirmed that the habitat of fireflies, dragonflies, frogs, etc. has been restored.
