[VII-54] Study on the production of heavy metal adsorbents using microwaves

〇Takatoshi Tajima1, Tomoko Jinno1, Yoji Ishikawa1 (1.Obayashi corporation)

Keywords:microwave, steelmaking slag, adsorbent, arsenic, selenium

Solids were prepared by melting or sintering simulated lunar soil using microwaves, and the production of materials for the construction of lunar and planetary bases by microwave heating was investigated.

As an above-ground application of this technology, the reforming of industrial by-products such as steel slag was investigated. As a result, the amount of arsenic and selenium adsorbed on the slag heated by microwave was higher than that of the electric furnace, indicating the possibility of producing heavy metal adsorbents by microwave heating.
