[P01-03] Developing an experimental apparatus for analyzing the vibration of a spider orb web

For a web-building spider, an orb web is very important in daily life, as being responsible for catching prey and transmitting information. This is the reason why the structures of orb webs are full of the wisdom of spiders. Thus far, the physicochemical properties of individual spider silk have been actively studied; in contrast, it is not yet understood how the web vibration is related to the spider's ecology. In this project, we have developed a simplified experimental apparatus and examined if it should be effective for elucidating the web vibration mechanism.
