[S02A-06] Development of crack initiation and propagation analysis method
using selective activation strategy and arc-length method
Keywords:Finite Element Method, Selective Activation Strategy, Arc-length Method, Cohesive Zone Model, Crack Initiation and Propagation
In order to simulate the crack initiation/propagation of concrete, we propose a new analysis method within the framework of finite deformation theory. The selective activation strategy is employed to adaptively glue and separate discrete blocks within the finite element framework, each of which is connected to the adjacent one by use of the cohesive zone model. Also, we adopt the arc-length method for tracing the equilibrium path. Finally, several numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the capability of the proposed method in simulating the failure process of concrete.
