[SS2-02] Hydraulic experiments on local scour around bridge pier under unsteady flow conditions
Keywords:Hydraulic Experiment, Local Scour, Bridge Pier, Flood
The collapse of bridge during flood is life-threatening and takes a long time to recover, which has a major impact on local life and economy. Therefore, disaster prevention against bridge collapse are very important. In this study, as a first step in elucidating the mechanism of damage caused by the settlement of the pier and planning countermeasures, hydraulic experiments under unsteady flow conditions were conducted to understand the scouring mechanism around the pier during flood. The results showed that scour around the pier during flooding changed significantly with time, and were strongly affected by sand waves and flood waveforms.
