[2A13-21-08] Risk evaluation for earth-fill dams due to heavy rains by response surface method

This research selected 29 earth-fill dams in Okayama and Hiroshima as research subjects. The damage cost is calculated by detailed analysis and response surface method. The breach is assumed to occur when the inflow to the earth-fill dam due to heavy rainfall exceeds the outflow capacity of the spillway. Then the risk due to the levee breach is calculated from the probability and the estimated damage cost. The accuracy of the response surface method is evaluated by comparing the risk ranking that means the priority of the repair by the detailed method and the response surface method.
