[2B07-12-03] Development of a Curved Bernoulli-Euler Beam Element using NURBS Basis Function
Keywords:Isogeometric Analysis, NURBS Basis Function, Bernoulli-Euler Beam Element, Curved Beam
Isogeometric Analysis is effective for the structural analysis of curved members because it can preserve the geometry of members without changing. In this study, we developed a NURBS-based curved Bernoulli-Euler beam element. Unknown variables in the conventional Bernoulli-Euler beam element have the angle of deflection to guarantee the continuity of the angle at the boundary of adjacent elements. Therefore, our element has only displacement in its unknown variables using the characteristics of Cp-1 continuous of NURBS. We evaluated the convergence rate of a quarter curved beam with distributed loads. As a result, we obtained high convergence rates of relative error.
