[2B19-24-02] Review of the pressure gradient model of the SPH method for incompressible fluids including negative pressure
Keywords:SPH, Particle Shifting, pressure gradient model, von Karman vortex , tensile instability
In recent years, torrential rains have caused damage to bridges over rivers. In this study, we attempted to reproduce the Karman vortex, which is a cause of scouring, using the SPH method, a type of particle method. Due to tensile instability in the general SPH method, we introduce an alternative pressure gradient model that satisfies first-order consistency and a particle shift (PS) scheme that keeps particle positions homogeneous. The validity of the modified SPH is quantitatively examined by comparing it with the Strouhal number and the size of the twin vortex obtained from experiments.
