[2C01-06-06] Bi-disperse granular flow down an inclined plane studied by 2D discrete element simulations
Keywords:Discrete Element Method, Bi-disperse Inclined Granular Flows, Size Segregation, Rheology
Some previous contributions found that the rheological properties of bi-disperse flows fall in the mu(I) rheology framework established for monodisperse ones, while the exact relations remain unclear. In this work, we computationally explore the influence of the bidispersity on the rheology of steady, dense bi-disperse flows by performing inclined plane simulations using 2D discrete element method. It was found that the linear function of mu(I) and phi(I) can be adopted in bi-disperse systems, while their material constants are affected by the particle size ratios and the local volume ratio.
