[12007-12-05] Topology Optimization for Maximization of Nonlinear Buckling Load Factor with Stress and Stiffness Constraints (Proceedings of Symposium on Applied Mechanics)
Keywords:Topology Optimization, Buckling, Stress Constraint, Nonlinear
Previous study has proposed an optimization method to improve structual strength by computing a problem to maximize a nonlinear buckling load factor with stiffness constraint. However, when relatively hard materials such as metals are used, the optimal structure with a certain buckling strength is subject to strength reduction due to local elasto-plastic deformation prior to buckling, therefore the theme is how to account for material nonlinearity as well as nonlinear buckling. In this study, a topology optimization method was developed to simultaneously control the maximum values of stiffness, buckling load, and stress by adding stress constraint that take geometric nonlinearity into account to the optimization problem of previous study, with the aim of avoiding material yielding.
