[13001-06-06] A Modellig of the effect of rock shape on run-out distribution of rokfalls (Proceedings of Symposium on Applied Mechanics)
Keywords:rokfall, desrete element method, run-out distribution
This study aims to quantitatively evaluate the effect of rock shape on the run-out distribution of rockfalls. 36 different rock models with varying shape parameters (aspect ratio, flattening ratio, and cut ratio) are created, and the run-out distributions are obtained for each rock model through a series of rockfall simulations using the descrete element method. Based on these results, the relationship between the sphericities and the run-out distribution is analyzed. Acoording to the obtained result, it was confirmed that the effects of rock shape on the run-out distribution of rockfall can be expressed by two sphericities. Furthermore, based on the obtained findings, we constructed a model which can predict the run-out distribution, and its performance was examined.
