Lateral cavities are common in hydraulics studies and the presence of cavities has a significant impact on the flow pattern and the transportation of sediment and pollutants. In this paper, the three-dimensional flow effect around an open-channel cavity is extracted by conducting various numerical simulation methods through the investigation of the velocity distribution and flow oscillation characteristics.
