We studied a damage model which can simulate the compressive failure of concrete affected by lateral pressure. The proposed model considers compressive resistance to hydrostatic pressure generated in the fracture region using the damage variable. After showing the formulation for the one-dimensional problem, the stress-strain curves in tension and compression were presented.
