Planar cell polarity (PCP) is the directionality of cells within a tissue plane and is widely conserved in animals. In this symposium, we would like to discuss diversity in regulatory mechanisms and functions of PCP, which were revealed by studies in different model organisms and various contexts including embryogenesis, regeneration and reconstitution systems. We hope this symposium activates the community of PCP researchers and further helps our understanding of commonality and diversity among PCP systems.
