[SY11-1] Recent progress in the diagnosis and treatment of AL amyloidosis
Prof. Palladini is the acting director of the Amyloidosis Research and Treatment Center at the University Hospital San Matteo in Pavia, Italy. He is the vice president and president elect of the International Society of Amyloidosis. He has been involved in clinical research in the field of systemic amyloidosis since 1994 with Prof. Giampaolo Merlini. Dr. Palladini contributed to the introduction of novel agents in the treatment of AL amyloidosis. His studies led to the establishment of a standard-of-care for the treatment of patients with AL amyloidosis who are not eligible for autologous stem cell transplantation, to the introduction of NT-proBNP as a marker of diagnosis, prognosis and response of cardiac involvement in this disease, and to the establishment and validation of criteria for hematologic and organ response to therapy in AL amyloidosis.
