[PSY2-3] Current management of essential thrombocythemia in young subjects
Prof. Alessandro M Vannucchi is Full Professor of Haematology and a member of the board of the Doctorate School in Genetics, Oncology and Molecular Genetics at the University of Siena and Florence, Italy. He is the Director of the CRIMM, Center of Research and Innovation for Myeloproliferative Neoplasms of Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria Careggi and University of Florence, Italy. Chair of the Working Party of Myeloproliferative Disorders of Fondazione GIMEMA (Italian Group for Adult Hematologic Diseases). Board of International Working Group for Myelofibrosis Research and Treatment (IWG-MRT) and the WP9 for Myeloproliferative Disorders of European Leukaemia Net. He is the Principal Investigator of the Italian collaborative groups AGIMM and MyNERVA, focused on myeloid neoplasms.
Prof. Vannucchi’s research interests include chronic myeloproliferative diseases, the pathophysiology of erythropoiesis and megakaryocytopoiesis and the characterisation of stem cells and transcription factors. He has been chief investigator and national co-ordinator of a number of important clinical trials including pivotal trials on JAK2 inhibitors. He is author of over 420 peer-reviewed papers and more than 30 book chapters.
