[SK7-1] Molecular imaging of the dopamine transporter in Parkinson's disease
Dr. Varrone is specialist in Nuclear Medicine from 1998 and completed his PhD in Functional Radioisotopic imaging at the University "La Sapienza" of Rome, Italy in 2003.
From 1997 to 2000 he was Research Associate at the Neurospect Centre at Yale University and from 2001 to 2006 Research scientist at the National Research Council in Italy.
In 2007, he became Assistant Professor at Karolinska Institutet, Department of Clinical Neuroscience. At the Karolinska Institutet PET-Centre, Dr. Varrone is Responsible Nuclear Medicine Physician from 2009 and head of the PET unit from 2015.
Dr. Varrone became Senior Researcher in 2011 and Docent and Associate Professor in Nuclear Medicine in 2012.
Dr. Varrone's current research is centered on the use of high-resolution PET and focused on methodological advancements in PET quantification and on the application of PET for the identification of early biomarkers of motor/non-motor symptoms and disease progression in PD.
Dr. Varrone is author or coauthor of 106 peer reviewed articles and 4 book chapters, with an H-index of 23.
