[SL1] Occupational health in Finland – services and training
Kari Reijula, MD, PhD, Professor in Occupational Health, acts as the Vice Dean and member of the Executive group at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Helsinki. He is also member of the Executive Board of the Helsinki University Hospital District. He acts also as a research professor at the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health (FIOH), Helsinki. Prof. Reijula has published over 220 peer-reviewed scientific articles mainly on occupational respiratory allergies, adverse health effects related to indoor air but also factors in indoor environment promoting well-being and workability. Prof. Reijula has acted as a visiting professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, USA (1988-89 and 1992-93) and at the University of Occupational and Environmental Health, Kitakyushu, Japan. Prof. Reijula was a member of the ICOH Board (2016-21) and has previously acted several years as the secretary of the ICOH WG on Occupational Infectious Agents (OIA). Prof. Reijula has acted as Fellow member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI) and member of the Occupational Medicine Section Board at the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS).
