[I-P12-08] Foundation of Asian Kawasaki Disease Clinical Research Network and its Objectives
Keywords:川崎病, アジア, 疫学
It has generally been considered that Asian countries have many patients with Kawasaki Disease (KD). However, epidemiology information such as accurate numbers / frequency frequencies of KD patients is not available in many areas. Experience, knowledge, therapeutic strategies, and follow-up systems might also be different. In Latin America, Latin American Kawasaki Disease Network (REKAMLATINA) was established and has been expanding the wave of communication mainly in a clinical field. The achievement of REKAMLATINA was shown in last International KD symposium (IKDS) in Hawaii, 2015. We now are going to launch “Asian Kawasaki Disease Clinical Research Network”., Our principal objective is simple: To figure out how many kids have KD in each country, how they are treated and, how many kids suffer from coronary artery complication. We started working on these simple questions. Together with this objective, we are also aiming at building partnership and friendship among KD clinicians in Asian countries. Our activity and findings will be introduced in some scientific meetings in Asia, including this forum, and we hope that more Asian pediatricians / cardiologists would become interested in this project and join this network. In June 2018, 12th IKDS will be held in Yokohama, Japan. At that meeting, we hope the members could join together and have the first "off-line" meeting. 【Acknowledgement】 We thank Dr. Teiji Akagi, Okayama University in Japan have helped this project and introduced doctors in Asian countries.
