[I-DB-04] Linkage between JCVSD and JPIC-DB which share most of the congenital heart defect cases

The Japanese Society of Pediatric Interventional Cardiology (JPIC) had been conducted the annual questionnaire surveillance regarding catheter-based interventional procedures and adverse events since 1993. The online registry system named JPIC Database (JPIC-DB) based on national clinical database (NCD) eventually went into operation with the initial enrollment of the actual cases since January 2013. After three years of transition period, the entire catheter-based interventional and ablation cases during 2016 in Japan registered to the JPIC-DB.
The striking feature of the annual surveillance so far has been comprehensive involvement of any form of pediatric and congenital interventional procedures, including ablation for tachyarrhythmias and their adverse events. Reflecting the prominent advancement in this field, the classification in therapeutic procedures, target lesions and adverse events is much more subdivided and refined.
More than half of the patients who receive congenital heart defect intervention or ablation have histories of surgery or will be indicated surgery in their staged repair. In other words, the same congenital heart patients can be shared by both JPIC-DB and Japanese Cardiovascular Surgery Database (JCVSD), therefore we created their fundamental information in identical format in the entry screen on NCD website. The linking has not yet been in practical use, but it has potential to manage and follow up their personal data, avoiding double registration.
