[JS-8] 質の高い理学療法研究の進め方
Developing an academic faculty that is highly productive in conducting physical therapy research can be challenging because rehabilitation research in general, and physical therapy research specifically, is a relatively new area of science. This talk will focus on four key factors that can assist physical therapy departments to develop high quality research. The first is development of the scientists who are prepared for academic research positions in physical therapy. The focus will be on the training strategies that can prepare physical therapists to become productive rehabilitation scientists. Next is the development of meaningful questions that will advance the practice of physical therapy. The focus will be on transitioning from doctoral and postdoctoral education to developing a meaningful independent research agenda as a rehabilitation scientist. The third topic is the mechanisms that physical therapy departments can employ to assure success of the new scientist faculty members in developing sustainable research agendas. The focus is on types of financial and infrastructure support that can facilitate implementation of the new faculty member's research. The final topic is national mechanisms of support for rehabilitation research. The focus will be on examples of national initiatives in the United States that have been particularly effective in assisting Departments of Physical Therapy to develop high quality research.
