[1Fp11R] Identification of chirality of helicene molecules by STM

Identification of chirality of molecules at single atomic level is necessary to understand the detail of enantioselective synthesis and biochemical reaction. Here, we have identified chirality of helicene molecule and helicene-diphenyl by measuring the sample bias voltage dependence on Topographic scanning tunneling microscopy image. We have revealed that helicene-diphenyl form the hexagonal pattern by the six same enantiomers while two different enantiomers form pairs in the case of helicene molecules.
