In this paper, we present the results for the recovery of copper from the concentrate of mine tailing using high-pressure leaching (HPL). The effects of various parameters, such as sulfuric acid concentration (0-0.5 M), pulp density (10-40 %) and total pressure (0.8-2.0 MPa) on the dissolution of copper from the concentrate of mine tailing were studied. A maximum dissolution rate (94.4 %) of copper was achieved under optimized conditions of pulp density of 40 % in the absence of sulfuric acid. Results showed that the pyrite can be the source of sulfuric acid for promoting the dissolution of copper (> 94 %) from the concentrate at high-pressure leaching conditions. On the other hand, the high dissolution rate of iron is associated with contents of pyrite in slurry under the high-pressure leaching conditions. The copper and iron concentrations in a pregnant leach solution are to be 2.8 g/L and 98.7 g/L under the optimized conditions.
