[1K0601-08-07] [Student presentation:Master's Course] Effect of some inorganic salts on strength development of fly ash- Ca(OH)2 system
Chairman:Hirokazu Okawa (Akita University)
Keywords:Fly ash, Strength development, Inorganic salt, Selective dissolution
Fly ash is produced in large quantities all over the world and is widely used in concrete products. This study investigated whether inorganic salt additives (Na2SO4, CaCl2, Ca(NO3)2, Ca(NO2)2 ) could improve the initial strength of fly ash- Ca(OH)2 system. Various tests were conducted to verify the effects including compressive strength, ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and selective dissolution. The results showed (1) Na2SO4 has a relatively good improvement on the initial strength of fly ash- Ca(OH)2, and its subsequent strength also increased stably, (2) the improvement of CaCl2, Ca(NO3)2, Ca(NO2)2 on the strength of fly ash- Ca(OH)2 are a little later than that of sodium sulfate, but in 56 days, the improvement of these four salts can reach a similar degree. The results of selective dissolution showed that the reaction of fly ash with the inorganic salt was added was promoted.
