[IE-04] Therapeutic approach of Multiple Sclerosis

Fri. May 25, 2018 3:15 PM - 3:45 PM Room 11 (Royton Sapporo / Crystal Room A (2F))

Chair: Masaaki Niino(Department of Clinical Research, Hokkaido Medical Center, Japan)

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a common inflammatory and demyelinating disease of the central nervous system with progressive neurological dysfunction. Although MS is not a curable disease, there has been striking progress on treatments for MS, especially in disease modifying therapies (DMTs), which are effective for reducing the clinical relapses, slowing the progression of physical disability, and reducing brain atrophy as shown by MRI. On the other hand, MS is clinically heterogeneous, and consequently, responses to several kinds of MS therapies are also heterogeneous. It is important to identify the most appropriate treatment with the minimum side effects for each patient. On this session, Prof. Tsai will discuss recent progress and a real-world on therapeutic approaches for MS.
