Epileptogenicity has not been fully delineated but recently the role of abnormality of AMPA receptor and the glia in the chronic epileptogenicity were extensively studied in both basic and clinical fields and mutual translatability is one of the most active discussions. The both fields, i.e., AMPA receptor and glia, are extensively studied in Japan and are currently lead to the clinical application. All of those discussions will open the new window to the new treatment of epilepsy.
