Microbiota and its contribution to stroke has become a hot topic in the neuroscience field. In this sesseion, we would like to discuss the emerging role of commensal micorobiota of both oral and interstinal in the course of stroke.

Kazuo Yamashiro, MD, PhD, is Associate Professor of Department of Neurology at Juntendo University School of Medicine. He received his MD from Hirosaki University, Aomori Japan, in 1999. Dr. Yamashiro completed his internal medicine and neurology residency at Juntendo University School of Medicine in Tokyo. He received his PhD in medicine from the same institute in 2007. He then joined Professor Amrita Ahluwalia’s laboratory at Vascular Pharmacology, William Harvey Research Institute in London from 2007 to 2009.

Dr. Yamashiro’s clinical and research interests focus on cerebrovascular disease. He is a member of the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine, Japanese Society of Neurology, the Japan Stroke Society, the Japanese Society of Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism and the International Society of Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism.
