[SS-04-1] The Future Practice of Neurology: Coordinated, Team-Care Models to Improve Outcomes in Populations

In 2017, four delegates from JSN,Prof. Hidehiro Misusawa, Prof.Susumu Kusunoki, Prof.Yoshikazu Ugawa and Prof.Ryosuke Takahshi were intvited to the annual meeting of American Neurological Association to promote the interaction and collaboration of the two societies. To further promote the collaboration, we would like to invite three delegates from ANA and hold an ANA Session. The speakers are selected by ANA.

Barbara G. Vickrey is the Henry P. and Georgette Goldschmidt Professor and Chair of the Department of Neurology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. She received her MD from Duke University. After neurology residency, she earned an MPH from UCLA School of Public Health and completed post-doctoral research fellowships in the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program and the RAND/UCLA Center for Health Policy Study. The overarching goal of her research is to create and implement effective and sustainable, evidence-based interventions to improve access, quality, and outcomes for persons with neurological conditions. For several decades, her scholarship has focused on implementation research, translating evidence from clinical trials into routine medical practice and improved patient outcomes. She has received research funding from NIH, VA, state agencies, and multiple foundations. Currently, she leads a cooperative agreement from NINDS for a stroke prevention/intervention research program in health disparities. Dr. Vickrey has provided extensive national service including the NINDS Advisory Council and the American Neurological Association, for which she is immediate Past President. In 1998, she received the Alice S. Hersh Young Investigator Award from AcademyHealth, and in 2011, she was elected to the National Academy of Medicine.
