[SS-04-3] Emerging genetic and cellular insights into HSP pathogenesis

In 2017, four delegates from JSN,Prof. Hidehiro Misusawa, Prof.Susumu Kusunoki, Prof.Yoshikazu Ugawa and Prof.Ryosuke Takahshi were intvited to the annual meeting of American Neurological Association to promote the interaction and collaboration of the two societies. To further promote the collaboration, we would like to invite three delegates from ANA and hold an ANA Session. The speakers are selected by ANA.

Craig Blackstone is Senior Investigator and Cell Biology Section Chief within the NINDS Neurogenetics Branch and Director of the NIH MD-PhD Partnership Training Program. He received B.S./M.S. degrees from the University of Chicago (1987) and M.D./Ph.D. degrees from Johns Hopkins (1994). After a neurology residency in the Harvard-Longwood Neurology Program, Dr. Blackstone pursued clinical fellowship training in movement disorders at Massachusetts General Hospital and postdoctoral research training in neurobiology with Dr. Morgan Sheng at Harvard Medical School and HHMI. In 2001, Dr. Blackstone joined the NINDS. His laboratory investigates the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying inherited neurological disorders, particularly hereditary movement disorders and spastic paraplegias. He is an elected member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI) and an elected Fellow and past Vice President of the American Neurological Association (ANA). He has held numerous other leadership positions in the ANA, including on its Executive Council and Professional Development Committee, and as Director of its Translational and Clinical Research Course and Chair of its Web Governance Committee. He currently serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Clinical Investigation and Journal of Neuromuscular Diseases. He received the NIH Director's Ruth L. Kirschstein Mentoring Award in 2012.
