[IE-01-1] Motor Faces of Parkinson's disease

Dr. Ai Huey Tan is an Associate Professor and Consultant Neurologist at the University of Malaya, with a subspecialisation in Parkinson’s disease and Movement Disorders. She was conferred a fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh in 2019. Besides pursuing a doctoral degree in exploring the role of gut infection and microbiome in Parkinson's disease, her research interests include genetics and biomarker discoveries, characterization of rare movement disorders as well as the geriatric and care perspectives in neurodegenerative diseases.

Dr Tan has served in the Malaysian Movement Disorder Council since 2013 (currently as the Honorary Secretary) and helped co-authored the National Consensus Guidelines for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. In 2018, she was elected as the first female President of the Malaysian Society of Neurosciences, the professional body that represents Malaysian clinicians and scientists in the neurology/neuroscience field. She was also the Past Treasurer of the ASEAN Neurological Association (ASNA). At the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS), she currently chairs the Communications Oversight Committee, and serves as a member of the Asian-Oceanian Section Executive Committee and the Evidence-Based Medicine Committee. She is the current Section Editor for the Parkinsonism and Related Disorders Journal.
