[IE-02-3] The changing landscape of global MS epidemiology
Professor Taylor is a clinician researcher with more than 25 years experience in MS research. His principal areas of research interest are in delineating the environmental and genetic factors associated with MS onset and progression. This includes the development and implementation of some of the longest and most complete MS cohort studies undertaken. He has published more than 400 papers with a H index of 75 and more than 31000 citations. He has received more than $A30 million in competitive research funding. He has supervised 20 PhD students to completion and currently supervises 9 PhD students and 7 post doctoral fellows. He is the academic lead of the MS Research Flagship at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research University of Tasmania which comprises more than 80 researchers and associates. He holds a prestigious Australian National Health & Medical Research Council leadership fellowship, in 2022 was awarded an MS Australia 50th Anniversary medal for services to MS research and was elected as a fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences in 2022. He currently serves as associate editor for demyelinating disease of the Journal of Neurology Neurosurgery & Psychiatry.
