[IE-03-3] Structural MRI in Dementia
Professor Mok is a world renowned academic neurologist sub-specializing in dementia, which is a highly prevalent and devastating disease among the rapidly aging societies. He is the first to report the association between cerebral small vessel disease (SVD) and cognitive impairment in Asia and investigated the contribution of amyloid burden in poststroke dementia using in-vivo amyloid PET. He also developed world’s first stand-alone artificial intelligence (AI)-aided analysis of retinal fundus photographs for the diagnosis and screening of Alzheimer’s disease.
He was awarded the “Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Award in Natural Sciences (1st Class)” by the Ministry of Education, People's Republic of China, as well as the “Excellent Research Award” and the prestigious “10th Health and Medical Research Fund Anniversary Award - Public Health, Clinical and Health Services” by the Food and Health Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). He was the Chief of Division of Neurology of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) from 2016-2022.
He received 7 times Teacher of the Year Award and the Master Teacher Award. The Faculty and University awarded him the most prestigious Faculty Education Award and University Education Award, respectively in 2023.
