[NFS-05-1] How does alpha-synuclein transfer from cell-to-cell?- The role of endosomal trafficking
Dr. Hasegawa received his M.D. in 1995 and Ph.D. in 2000 from Tohoku University School of Medicine, and from 2006 to 2008 he studied as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at the Hertie Institute in Tübingen, Germany (Prof. Philip Kahle). 2017 he was appointed Associate Professor at Tohoku University Graduate School of Medicine, Department of Neurology and PI of the Parkinson's Disease (PD) Group. His research focuses on elucidating the molecular pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease and related disorders, leading to the development of disease-modifying therapies. In particular, he has made numerous discoveries on the cell biological mechanisms of prion-like spreading of alpha-synuclein and the involvement of vesicular trafficking mechanisms in sporadic and familial PD.
