Dr. Masayuki Nakamori is a Professor in the Department of Neurology at Yamaguchi University Graduate School of Medicine. He earned his M.D. from Osaka University in 1999 and underwent Neurology training at Osaka University Hospital. In 2007, Dr. Nakamori obtained his Ph.D. from Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine, focusing on myotonic dystrophy for his thesis work. Following this, he engaged in postdoctoral research at the University of Rochester from 2007 to 2012. During this period, his research centered on trinucleotide repeat expansion disorders and their potential therapeutic interventions.
In 2023, Dr. Nakamori joined the faculty at Yamaguchi University Graduate School of Medicine. His current research emphasizes understanding the disease mechanisms in trinucleotide repeat expansion disorders, particularly myotonic dystrophy. His approach involves therapeutic development utilizing small molecules and antisense oligonucleotides.
