[1S10a] Frontiers in neuronal homeostasis in aging and neurodegenerative diseases
This symposium was supported by the AMED Strategic Promotion Program for
Translational Research, the Takeda Science Foundation for Pharmaceutical
Research Continuous Grants, and the Tohoku University Young Leaders
Overseas Program.
Tue. Aug 1, 2023 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM Room 10 (Meeting Room 4)
Organizer: Ichiro Kawahata (Department of CNS Drug Innovation, Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Tohoku University), David Finkelstein (Parkinson's Disease Laboratory, Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, University of Melbourne)
With the advent of a super-aging society, the increase in age-related diseases has become a social problem. The causes of aging-dependent loss of neuronal function are still unknown. We have identified a signaling network and novel regulatory systems focusing on unique biomarkers to understand how homeostasis of neural function is maintained and lost. In this symposium, we will review the latest data on the regulatory mechanisms of neuronal homeostasis and discuss their physiological significance in disease and their therapeutic applications.
