[3LS06] Control of brain functions by microglial replacement
Thu. Aug 3, 2023 11:55 AM - 12:45 PM Room 6 (Shirakashi 1)
Chairperson: Naoto Shimada (FUJIFILM Wako Pure Chemical Corporation)

Microglia are sensitive to environmental changes, and when they sense these changes, they make large and diverse changes that significantly affect brain function. Using the ON/OFF of the colony stimulating factor 1 receptor (CSF1R) antagonist, microglia can be removed/self-renewed. This operation is called "reset". Can the brain be changed by resetting during pathological conditions? We have also developed a non-invasive transplantation method of microglia, which can be combined with the above reset to replace exogenous microglia. Recent findings on these microglial replacement techniques and their effects will be presented.
