We demonstrate a miniature multi-level optical switch element based on a 1×1 multimode interferometer (MMI) loaded with a 0.5-µm-long Ge₂Sb₂Te₅ strip. Six-level dynamic switching is successfully demonstrated with a maximum transmission change of 150%.
