A low mode-dependent-loss scrambling-type 6-mode multi/demultiplexers (mode scramblers) together with the design methodology is proposed for mode-division multiplexing system. The condition for achieving low mode-dependent-loss characteristics is discussed through two-type of mode scramblers.
