We propose and demonstrate reconfigurable optical unitary converter with non-uniform multimode interference (MMI) couplers. By using compact 182-μm-long non-uniform MMIs, desired 8×8 unitary operation is obtained with the crosstalk equivalent to that with 364-μm-long uniform-MMIs.
