[Aim]
Child maltreatment is associated with children's social and communicative development. These abnormalities closely resemble those of developmental disabilities, and may not be distinguishable by operational diagnostic criteria and screening tools.
To identify and nurture maltreated children in clinics for developmental disabilities, this symposium aims to provide the following: 1) up-to-date research on child maltreatment and brain science, 2) the symptomology and interventions for attachment disorder, as distinct from developmental disabilities, 3) an adequate legal overview of child maltreatment, and 4) opportunities for collaboration with child care professionals.
