【ねらい】
重篤な疾患や障害を抱えるこどもが，苦痛なく，その子らしく，限られた大切な時間を希望するように家族・社会の中で過ごすための支援を提供する小児緩和ケアの理念と発展の歴史をエビデンスと併せて紹介する．続いて，成人の神経内科，また小児の各専門領域（先天疾患，救命救急，進行性疾患）や立場（小児緩和ケアチーム）における緩和ケアの実践を紹介する．治癒が望めない先にも私たち医療者が尽くすことのできる医療があり，そのような医療は，必ずしも「小児緩和ケア」という枠組みを意識せずとも，既に私たちは今まで実践してきたことを共有したい．小児神経科医として，今後取り組むべき課題などについて考える機会になることを願う．
