【特別講演のねらい】
Skotko先生はマサチューセッツ総合病院のダウン症プログラムを主催する遺伝専門医です。全米では、ダウン症患者は小児から成人に至るまで各地の中心的病院で診療され、年に１〜２度Skotko先生の診察を受けにボストンまで来られます。診療にとどまらず、家族への愛情に満ちた指導、臨床治験も行われています。彼の主催するプログラムでは、心理的サポート、社会資源の紹介や、家族会との連携を紹介することもあり、ダウン症者がスタッフとして働いています。日本にも、このような医療にとどまらない、教育や福祉ときめ細かく連携した多機能病院が求められています。
