[XOPT8-03] Enhancing elastic x-ray scattering by control of transient electronic populations
XFELs opened the way for exploring non-linear x-ray matter interaction. Exploiting their extreme intensity we aim at controlling the scattering properties of individual atoms. A transient resonance is created by photoionization of an inner shell. Here, a resonant scattering channel for an x-ray probe pulse is opened, this enhances the atomic scattering factor with respect to the elastic case.
