Symposium
Thu. Mar 26, 2020 4:15 PM - 6:15 PM [Room V] Annex Hall 1 (1F)
Organizers: Kazuhiro Abe (Grad Sch Pham Sci, CeSPI, Nagoya Univ), Tappei Takada (Dept Pharm, Univ Tokyo Hosp)
Asymmetric distribution of materials across the biological membrane is no doubt important basis of the living system, which is generated/maintained by membrane transport proteins including channels, transporters and pumps. Given the asymmetry is required not only for the homeostasis of individual cells but also for the characteristics of the respective tissues, disorder in function/regulation of these membrane transport proteins is closely related to various diseases. It is therefore not surprising that membrane transport proteins are recognized as important drug targets.
In this symposium, researchers working on the membrane transport proteins employing biochemical, structural, physiological, chemical biological approach will present their latest results to answer essential questions regarding their molecular mechanisms and physiological relevance. We would also like to discuss the logistics how these outputs from the basic science can be applied for the actual drug development.
