Symposium
Fri. Mar 27, 2020 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM [Room A] Room A (2F)
Organizers: Tatsuya Saitoh (Grad Sch of Pharm Sci, Osaka Univ), Yasushi Fujio (Grad Sch of Pharm Sci, Osaka Univ), Hirotaka Imai (Sch Pharmaceut Sci, Kitasato Univ)
Cell death was believed to be the final step in the life of cells and the resultant dead cells were believed to be only degraded and lost. However, in recent years, various studies have shown that dying cells become the source of information-bearing signal and are involved in disease development by inducing various biological responses, such as immune responses, inflammation, repair, regeneration, and fibrosis. Here, researchers who are working on "building a new paradigm of dying cells as signal transmitters" and "developing methods to control cell death-mediated biological responses", have been invited as guest speakers. The speakers will mainly focus on diseases related to immunity and inflammation. They will share data and research findings obtained using diverse methods based on immunology, pathophysiology, chemical biology, imaging, and proteomics. This symposium will provide an opportunity to gain insight into and deepen our understanding of various cell death machineries, the diseases caused by cell death, and drug development targeting dying cells.
