The aim of this symposium is to discuss future perspective through the lectures for the latest research and education on physical pharmaceutical sciences, thereby leading to the contribution of further development of the Division of Physical Sciences in the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan. This symposium includes the award lectures of two recipients of "Award for Young Scientists by the Division of Physical Sciences", Dr. Yuki Naito ("Investigation of molecular mechanism of zinc complexes for diabetes treatment") and Dr. Yumi Yamamoto ("Novel NSAIDs derivatives for COX-2 imaging"). In addition to these lectures, Prof. Ken-ichi Yamada will talk about his latest research ("Detection, structural analysis and inhibition of lipid-derived radicals") to discuss new directions of the research on physical pharmaceutical sciences. Furthermore, Prof. Hiroshi Homma will provide some hot topics regarding education in the field of physical pharmaceutical sciences ("On the revision of model core curriculum for pharmacy education") to share the current situation of the education with the participants.
